They collect ideas from other pupils and classes and bring these to discuss in the meeting. Following each meeting they report back to their own classes on decisions made in the meeting.

They arrange various events during the year to collect money to purchase something for the school or to give to a charity. They work closely with the Headteacher and all stakeholders of the school in ensuring that we continue to meet our aims.

In the coming weeks we hope to teach more about children’s rights to children at Ysgol Mynydd Bychan. Each week we will put a new ‘right’ on the ‘rights’ display in the hall. This is to ensure that the children can recognise the ‘rights’ and understand their meaning. The teachers will present the rights in each class and discuss them during the week and in our ‘rights’ sessions. It is certainly vital that the children understand that these rights help keep us safe. We as a council will also share information about these rights on the exhibition. We aim to receive the bronze award for ‘rights respecting school’ and ensure Ysgol Mynydd Bychan children feel happy and safe in our school. To add to this, we are keen to introduce the right of the week every Monday morning on the loudspeaker.

Our other focus will be to develop and improve ‘wet’ play time. We have received funding from the school, which is £40 per class. The aim is to use this money sensibly to purchase new and bespoke resources for wet playtime. Members of the school council will also help monitor the classes and ensure resources are used respectfully and accurately.

Members of the School Council

Yr 6 – Catrin Matthews, Eirlys Ennis, Owain Phillips, Jacob Sutton, Ben Steer

Yr 5 – Gwion Cope, Mari Alys George

Yr 4 – Evie Davies, Alfie Jones

Yr 3 – Ava Cozens, Tom Bridges

Yr 2 – Tomos Roberts, Mila Rogers

Two pupils from Years 2, 3 and 4, 4 pupils from Year 5 and 6 pupils from Year 6 are [Read More]
