Wellbeing Committee

Health and Wellbeing Committee 2023 – 2024

The aim of our committee is to ensure that the children of Ysgol Mynydd Bychan are healthy. Our mental health is just as important as our physical health. During the year, we help others stay fit, eat healthy and look after their mental health.

Everyone’s voice is important to us, so we’ve already asked each class for ideas how we can improve health and wellbeing in school. We have created a questionnaire to see what the school children’s favourite fruits are with a view to re-opening the school fruit shop very soon.

We are keen to reward children who eat fruit/vegetables at lunchtime. We’d like to start lunchtime clubs that promote the children’s mental health. Playtime is very important to us. We believe many school children would benefit from a quiet area to calm the mind.

As a council, we hope everyone is happy at Ysgol Mynydd Bychan. We have considered article 19 of the Children’s Rights (‘You should not be harmed and cared for and kept safe.’) and co-authored an anti-bullying policy for the school which ensures that all children are in school with support when necessary.

We hope for a happy year where Ysgol Mynydd Bychan pupils will be ‘Great, Ready and Safe’. We look forward to working with the children and teachers to achieve this.
