Year 5

Our class has been named after Princess Gwenllian. Here is some information about her.

Gwenllian was the daughter of Llywelyn the last ruling Prince of Wales (“Llywelyn The Last”). After Llywelyn’s death in 1282, the whole of Wales came under the rule of King Edward I of England. Edward sent Gwenllian, who was a 1-year old baby at the time, to be imprisoned in an English convent so that she would not have children who might fight once again for Welsh independence. Princess Gwenllian lived at the convent until her death 53 years later, unaware of her heritage.

We looked at some newspaper articles to prepare for writing our own article about the  Second World War.

We descussed  the situation in America  and decided to write a letter to Donald Trump,Theresa May and Carwyn Jones to tell them our opinion .

We also did a time line with money from 1806 to 2016!

Year 5 Blog 13.1.17

Friday, January 13th, 2017

This week and last week, we started on a new theme – World War 2. We have started to read two new class novels – ‘Sais ydy o Miss’ by Brenda Wyn Jones and ‘Goodnight Mr Tom’. We have also written scripts based on ‘Sais ydy o Miss’ – we are thoroughly enjoying the novel so far. Creating a 20th century and World War 2 timeline has also been a lot of fun.
