Welcome to Year 1! We hope that you all enjoyed the holidays. Our topic for this half term is “123 This is me!”
Our class has been named after Barti Ddu. Here is more information about him.
Bartholomew Roberts from Newport in Pembrokeshire was an infamous pirate who sailed the Caribbean and West Africa between 1719 and 1722. His real name was John Roberts but he was better known as Barti Ddu. He succeeded in capturing 470 ships during his career and it is said that he managed to steal gold that was worth up to £50 million! Some believe that Barti Ddu was the first to use the famous skull and bones flag that is associated with pirates.
